Last Week in Broadcasting...
*Monday I gave John Thomas (Froggy 95 PD) my airchecks from the past two weeks. By Tuesday, I had a note in my mailbox w/complete feedback -- mostly positive. Of course there was some stuff I need to work on, too -- nobody's perfect! John says overall I'm doing a good job & he's "impressed with how I'm progressing".
*Thursday I traveled to Youngstown to visit Kristen Hephner (assignment). I met Kristen last semester during "Career Shadowing" through Westminster. She was nice enough to meet w/me to give me advice & feedback about my broadcasting future. Most of the feedback I received was from Tom -- a "photographer" (videographer) who took time to watch SIX of my packages & give me feedback on each of them. He told me I have a "great on-air presence" -- which "up-ed" my confidence-level :) He gave me tons of tips for making a good package -- & interviewing in general. Tom also gave me tons of resume tips. All in all, it was a VERY helpful experience!
This Week in Broadcasting...
*I'm doing news tomorrow morning @ 5AM... & then it's back to the Forever stations for my Froggy 95 shift on Sunday night. Another week of afternoon news @ WKST. I hope the promos I made this week for Titan Radio start running -- I think the Pat & Megan in the Morning one is really cute!
*I'm finally having more time to actually be ON-AIR for the Digital 88.9 News. I can't wait 'til next semester when I have more day-time to be in the newsroom to actually interact w/newspeople in person. Also, with less required news shifts (for classes & practicum), I think the news will be more professional; the people who actually WANT to be there will still be involved in the newscasts. & I'm looking forward to being LIVE on-air more often as well, now that anchoring shifts will open up. There's already been a good amount of interest in radio news next semester -- it's gonna be another good one! :)
Career Goals...
*Well, after my WKBN visit/confidence booster, TV is on my brain again. I'm really hoping to land the Christmas break internship @ WFMJ -- especially b/c it pays & some extra money & extra experience would be VERY welcome right now! I really want to be completely comfortable in my reporting "skin" before graduation, which is VERY quickly approaching!

*I think the "Desperate Housewives" commercial hype was blown WAY out of proportion! While critics are comparing it to the Janet Jackson Superbowl "Wardrobe Malfunction", I agree with the supporters who say the recent commercial was no more racy than a typical beer commercial! What do you think?

I'm very excited about all your comments you got from the people at WKBN. I know you are still inbetween radio and TV but whatever you decide to do you will definitely rock at! Your titan radio and froggy shifts sound good and your TV packages turn out well (phone nat sound in the beginning...great idea) Keep working hard and you'll fit in wherever your chose!
