Good News!

This Week in Broadcasting...

*FINALLY re-integrating sound into the WKST & WJST newcasts here @ Forever Broadcasting in New Castle. Training on the new computer system is next week, and Scott (general manager) says we should have mini-disc players sometime in February. Dr. B was right when he says us "kids" take all the great technology we have @ Westminster for granted! The college station is ahead of the commercial station that I work for!

*I've been comparing prices of mini-disc recorders online. I plan on using some of my Christmas money to buy one. Unfortunately, the one that I really, really want (which Pat, Tandi, & I used for news this semester & during our remotes this summer) is about $400! I figure I can get lots of use out of it, though -- between reporting (especially covering meetings) and class lectures next semester.

*I'm off for Christmas (along w/everyone else!) & New Year's Eve. Unfortunately, I have to work on New Year's Day @ 5AM, so that could put a damper on my celebrating...

Career Goals...

*As I approach my last semester in college, many people are asking me what I plan to do post-graduate. Melissa Batulis (reporter! & friend) called it "the dreaded question" -- & she wasn't far off-base. It's hard explaining that I would be happy doing pretty much any aspect of on-air broadcasting (more than likely broadcast journalism). I love TV AND Radio!

I almost bought and MD player instead of an MP3 player this summer. I checked out ones at the Sony Outlet at Grove City and they had the blue ones (like the ones in the equipment closet) for like $99. They didn't have a mic or anything, but it's still not a bad price!

Have a good break!

Now you'll have to get all that great sound to make those newscasts compelling! Feed the beast.
