This Week in Broadcasting... I'm relieved! This weekend I had a jam-packed schedule & it was COMPLETELY worth it! I started with WKST news Saturday... that was from 5AM-8AM. Titan Radio's "Relay for Life" remote broadcast ran very smoothly -- & was a great time, too! I helped kick that off @ 10AM & board op-ed/announced for a bit before heading back to the Forever studios in New Castle, where I covered Ashley's Saturday shift on Froggy -- 3PM-7PM. I had a WONDERFUL shift! I was very excited by all the phone calls I received -- & impressed with the way I was able to get people to talk about what they were doing, rather than just taking requests. I LOVE RADIO! :) After 7, I jetted back to Westminster for more board-op-ing/announcing & spent the last hour of the remote broadcast down at the track with H. Storm. What a productive & exciting day!
"Pat & Megan (& Kirstan) in the Morning" went VERY well this morning, as always. Dr. B even stopped in to tell us that Pat's comment about a lawn gnome having a better Spring Break than he (Pat) did made him laugh (if you missed this story, you REALLY missed out!) "New Music Monday" was a Lisa Marie Presley song -- a remake of Don Henley's "Dirty Laundry". Sherri liked it -- she's our loyal listener/caller. Mark Martin ("Tad Pole") told me he wasn't a fan. But he listened! I'll take any feedback -- it's wonderful to know people are listening. Pat & I are working on our LAST promo. The idea was mine, Pat jazzed it up a bit (he's so good at that!), we recorded our voices this morning, Dr. B. is going to record his today as well... & Pat is going to put it to music/add some effects. I love how well Pat & I work together!
WKST news continues this week. I'm going to miss everyone here so much! Last week, everyone gave me a card & sang me Happy Birthday (with a cake, yum!)... it was so sweet. I love my random chats w/Mark everyday. & relating college life AND working with Ashley. Ken (WKST PD) & I bond over our love for McDonald's. Wade usually teases me about eating fast food 3x a week :) Bill (engineer for all 3 stations) is always teaching me something. Marie is always my "go-to girl" when it comes to helping me out with production. Lizz has become a radio mom to me, as well -- she knows the answer to every question I ask her! John is always giving me advice that is REALLY, really helpful. Eileen (sales) just brought me my favorite new KFC apple pie snack that she introduced me to. Scott (General Manager) is really supportive about my moving on to a full-time position -- giving me tips, wanting to know the scoop, etc. It's really sinking in that I'm moving in about a month!
Career Goals... remain the same. I'm going to miss "Pat & Megan in the Morning" SO MUCH -- but I think that will keep me working toward my broadcasting goal of becoming a morning show host. Hopefully it'll be a big-time show, too... so I can have an assistant/producer as cool as Kirstan! &, of course, a co-host as wonderful as Pat's been for the past 3 years.
Media-Related News... I'm still a little confused by the press release (fax) that we received at Titan Radio. There was a stand-off in Lawrence County Sunday. The press release was very detailed, but the cover page said that the facts were "not for broadcast". Why did they send it? Mr. Weaver, I know you can explain it -- 'coz like Lizz, you also have all the answers :)
Other News... Watch Morgan Spurlock's documentary "Supersize Me". I watched it last week (I realize it's been out for awhile, but I was avoiding it because I was afraid it would traumatize me!) It's very informative & interesting.
This Saturday I'm visiting WNCO & apartment-hunting in Ashland, Ohio with my parents. Wish me luck!
